This Is How We Heal the National Anthem Divide

I had an epiphany yesterday, watching Hard Knocks on HBO, when the question of kneeling was raised.  Some L.A. players were uneasy with the idea of disrespecting the flag when their close family members had served this nation, but also wanting to acknowledge the injustices that continue to occur in our great nation and support their teammates.  The coaches and players expressed their beliefs through a virtual Zoom chat and then it hit me!

One man stands and puts his hand on the teammate kneeling next to him.  The one man stands for both as the other teammate kneels for both.  One in the same, a unified team, country, and people!

I had this idea come to me from the movie, Conan the Barbarian.  The thief cries when they set Conan’s woman’s body a blaze and the old man asks him, “Why do you cry?”

The thief responds, “He is Conan, Cimmerian, he won’t cry, so I cry for him.”
