Cleveland is gearing up for the Deshuan trade to either put up or shut up in 2024. The Browns draft capital blown as collateral damage to a nice Texans team. The press blow back was nonstop and the play on the field hasn’t quieted critics. Nick Chubb’s return looks like week 5 on PUP list, and another Brown was arrested (gun drawn) but played in the preseason. Offensive linemen are slim headed to Seatle for the final preliminary game. And there’s the Brookpark Dome.
The Haslam’s dream of Dome Depot looks pretty awesome! It definitely will be a staple of the Midwest with it’s ability to host many other events besides the NFL and have not just domestic but international draw. The funds offered by the city of Cleveland were insufficient to upgrade the lake front, in addition to being unnecessary. The owners have a dream and deep pockets, they’re in.
But are the orange and brown ready to put the AFC North Divisional Title Belt on? 1989 was a spell ago and this the toughest division in the NFL. Even though the Dawg Pound waxes the Bengals since Joey Burrow, they still have Joe Burrow! Derick Henry joining the Ravens is not something I want to see twice a year. I don’t really care about Russ or Justin but TJ Watt can take over like Myles Garret. That’s 6 games were we need to win at least 4.
Week 1 is a pay-per-view event at 4:30 in Cleveland hosting America’s team. The game is being called by the GOAT, his first and we’ll see Dak Vs. Deshuan. Losing Pollard for the Boys and bringing back Zeek seems desperate of the past. Cee Dee is holding out and Dak isn’t making Watson money with a clean nose. The Cowboys are ripe for implosion this season. Mike McCarthy, ok.
New Brown’s offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey, (the U) inserts new blood, although Kevin will call all the plays with an offensive that has many bullets. Former Bearcat, Ford, played huge last year in Chubb’s absence accounting for 9 TD’s receiving and running 200 times with 1 fumble. Cooper, the good solider through 5 QB’s crushed with 1,250 yards and 5 TD’s. David Nojku came into his own with 6 TD’s and 800 plus yards, watchout after the catch. Now you can toss in Moore, Judy (Denver trade), and Tilman (Tenn); options, yes.
What do I even have to say about the defense, it’s going to be great! Their unit is solidified with a swagger and confidence as they air guitar after they’re tested, nope! They will keep the team in every game because keepers of a #1 ranking always show up to defend their title. It’s other things like special teams that is not as certain.
The new kick-off rule will take getting used to but I get it, safety first, (hey Wahoo you feeling safe?). Actually, I saw some descent returns so we’ll see how it plays out but how will kicker Cade York end? Drafted and cut, to be resigned when Hopkins is healthy, we got this guy Not Sure. 6 games were within 3pts. last year. Utah, get me two!
The schedule which was listed as the toughest strength of schedule in the NFL looks ripe for the picking to start 2024. The Browns get Cowboys at home, away at the Jags, home to the G Men, away in Vegas, away in D.C. (Chubb return?), and then hits with Hurts in Philly. That’s 5 realistic wins before divisional play and Chiefs, Dolphins, and Eagles. That is if we see a ghost from Houston return.
But if not him there’s Jamis Winston (FSU), big risk, big reward. Watching him chuck the pigskin is like rolling Craps. Awesome hard 8 and then bam, 7 out. He does have character, and I enjoy his antics. Watching him race coach Mike Vabrel (wow he’s hanging out) demonstrates the comradery being bonded in Berea. Reminds me of this African proverb where the children are offered gifts under the tree to the fasted sprinters. But instead, they lock arms walking steadfast and say, “we’ll get there together.”
That’s what it will take to conquer the hunger games in a steel town, with Bengal tigers, and Raven’s feasting on the fallen. Is there enough grain to go around for the winter? Can a Browns fan somehow embrace Deshuan Watson? Fak, dude, you ain’t gotta lie to kick it but this other makes it difficult brah. Just be you. The Clemson Tiger. Best writing advice I ever got, show me don’t tell me! Thanks Aunt Betsy.
W’s are marked by leadership and Miles. The tone will be set with a bar. You can lift it or you can’t. Something beautiful about that simplicity. Pack a lunch and supplies but for your opponents they will need the nutrition. Because if we choose to seek it, it will be sought without what they need.
Believeland is reborn every September on the North Coast living through the past generations of Sunday’s gone by but cherished in heartache. With a 2016 feeling of Kings and Queens dawning old Couch, Kosar, Newsome, Manziel, Quinn, Byner, Mack, Chubb, Garret, Ward, and Nojku jersey’s coloring in the lakefront with Orange and Brown, not just proudly but with a sense of family. We always give you our time with our heart on our sleeve, why? Because you make us want to fight. Fight for the little guy, the underdog, and practice our faith to believe; that this is our year. Paint that vision for the Redzone, Fanduel, and ESPN so my, our, sacrifice has not been in vain. Go Browns!
