Is a Perfect Strom Brewing for a 3rd Party Presidential Candidate?

The idea of a Biden V. Trump rematch has the American public ill, like that of a man over the age of 76, he sighs through the chores of the day, falls, and rants as a child.  As we wait for an early supper and our meds, the news cycle on our screens screams loud enough to disturb the copasetic feeling of a day’s work done.  Our weight has been pulled in our eyes but others are slacking or so it seems.  The division among the right and left is so thick a recent poll by Suffolk University cited that 23% of Americans would be inclined to vote 3rd party today.  That’s astounding!

A 3rd party, come on man, when has that ever yielded anything?  I reminded of the Simpson’s when the alien’s tell Homer, “Go ahead, through your vote away.”  But today, a year and a half out, 23% is something to build on.  With Trump’s looming legal battles ahead the unknown is vast and Biden’s health, come on man.  But how does an independent candidate bridge the gaps between the two parties enough to from a solid base?

Their platform needs to be one of every American, a common denominator among men and women.  So start with something easy that will infuriate the powers that be, make Election Day a Federal Holiday.  On the 2nd Tuesday in November in all corners of the lower 48 and the two outliers all should partake in this experiment of Democracy in the Republic, with fireworks, music, dance, food, and drink; to discuss political and philosophical beliefs.  What makes a free society, what moral obligations do we hold, and how do we advance the pursuit of happiness, would be welcomed on the agenda.

This second idea is quite tricky, the candidate most be pro-life and pro-choice.  This seems like a divide that could never be crossed but I’m reminded of an interview with a pro-lifer about Andrew Yang’s Universal Basic Income idea.  She said, “This is the most pro-life agenda I’ve ever seen.”  According to Forbes in December 2021 59% of women seeking abortion were mothers of low income.  A study cited in Medical News Today claimed that 40% was due to financial and 36% timing, which go hand in hand.  So if money is a main influence this candidate will have to ask for ministry help, in addition to funds from both sides.  Because America is the richest country in the world and we are able to take care of all the families while protecting rights.  If the majority of abortions occur at 13 weeks or fewer according to PEW research (90%) and since a woman isn’t sure about pregnancy for weeks, I think a 3-month Federal law would make sense; at least to this man and satisfy both sides. Killing in the name or a slow systemized death is unfair on the shining city on the hill.

Thirdly, the third-party candidate must make a difference in everyday people’s lives.  Why not initiate a Peace Corps for the States?  The military industrial complex will not go away but the budget could be allocated to building, securing, and inspiring American innovation.  If last years funding was over $700 billion, I think 1 billion to each state could set up many, many, terrific, believe me, projects of neighbors engaging neighbors.  When policies become tangible citizens retrain that sense of acknowledgement and pride.  And representatives reap the political capital.

But what naturally born American is likable enough for all?  I thought Mark Cuban would be well suited but his family has ruled a hard no.  His TV and NBA presence make him current to a public who craves an entrepreneur, along with social and environmental reasonability.  I long for a Jesse Ventura but alas, he would rather surf in Mexico and I can’t blame him.  Maybe an early October surprise awaits us because I can’t do Cavs V. Warriors three.
