With 55 days until Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, the country hangs on for an outcome both sides cling too for their way of life. Trump vs. Biden will be the 59th Presidential election held in the Republic, the 58 before were followed by a peaceful transfer of power; but this may be different. The President has already cast doubt on the mail-in system and telling voters in North Carolina, “Let them send it in and let them go vote,” Trump said in an interview on Wednesday with WECT-TV in Wilmington, North Carolina. “And if the system is as good as they say it is, then obviously they won’t be able to vote” in person. It seems I, being a citizen in NC, can commit voter fraud because the President said so? Additionally, former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton said, “Joe Biden should not concede under any circumstances because I think this is going to drag out, and eventually I do believe he will win if we don’t give an inch and if we are as focused and relentless as the other side is.” Clearly, as a voter, I feel confident the results will be timely and accurate. (Insert Borat “Not” joke)
Since the 2000 election, where I was introduced and age eligible, I felt a disconnect with the system; a bad taste. Apparently, I’m not the only one. The largest voting group in the States does not participate, 92 million. Why have we accepted this two party system? Do we forget it once was the Democratic-Republican Party, that my favorite President, Thomas Jefferson championed? The divide and conquer tactics have kept the People from a Pursuit of Happiness. Will Trump be the catalyst for revolution?
With the nation already dispensing firearms, rioting, and Covid-19, I’m betting blood in the streets following the drawn out election results; that in no way will benefit anyone! If Biden wins, Trump supporters will call foul and occupy. I remember talking to Militia Members and when the Feds ran up on David, in Waco, they were ready to rush the capitals of their respected states. His supporters own 60% of the firearms in America, something to be aware of. But, if the President wins, (only 10 Presidents have lost a 2nd term,) the protests will get worse and Congress will fight him on everything.
If the President loses and hands the keys to Joe, he still wins. Donald Trump is now a former President with a cable news network! This is how he retains control and persuasion over the GOP. Congressional Reps, Senators, Governors, State Legislative, Judges, and lobbyist will have to be on his good side to make moves. His base will still be there and the Civil War could be avoided. Let’s not be ignorant to the fact there are 400 million firearms for 330 million Americans and realize we have more in common than different. Let us not fall for divide and conquer.
Whatever may transpire, I urge you to participate, whoever you vote for. The powers that be have been stifling the vote for generations. Why is it I can bank online but can’t vote? Why is Election day, the 1st Tuesday in November, not a National Holiday? We only have the oldest democracy in the world! Seems to me, we should celebrate it like the 4th of July. Every state votes different and this needs to change, at least on a federal level. We the People, should champion a new voter system and be heard, celebrated. This is a working experiment and the People are the ultimate of checks and balances!
